NewYork Based ContourGlobal Utilities Team Technician Jobs in Kenya (8 Positions)

Our Client, ContourGlobal based in New York, develops, acquires and operates electric power and district heating
businesses around the globe.

They focus upon high-growth, under-served markets and innovative niches within developed markets, such as renewable and Combined Heat and Power (CHP).

ContourGlobal was founded in late 2005 and has recently partnered with a local company to support and run the utilities function in Nairobi.

ContourGlobal is looking for highly qualified individuals to join its team to assume the following key and rewarding
role: Utilities Team Technician (8 Positions)

Position Purpose: Under the supervision of the Utilities Site Manager, the utilities technician will maintain and operate all power plant and factory utilities equipment to ensure 24/7 supply to the production facility.

Overall Responsibilities:

* Providing 24/7 shift coverage for the power plant and factory utilities encompassing boilers,CO2 Units, Air Compressors Chillers, electric switch gear and supply equipment and all relevant supply lines identified in the CG scope of work.
* Carry out daily maintenance inspections and PPE (planned preventative maintenance) on key plant as identified by the Contour Global Site Manager.

Ensuring Safe, Reliable and Commercially Sound Operation of the Plant during the Shift:

* Monitoring, operation and maintenance of a carbon dioxide production unit at the power plant and brewery in line with manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Monitoring, operation and maintenance of other equipment, including air compressors, pressure system and steam generation equipment, including annual inspections and services.
* Monitoring, operation and maintenance of electrical switch gear and generation equipment located at the power plant.
* Making plant operational decisions according to the relevant standard operating procedures or as directed by the Contour Global Site Utilities Manger or his deputy or the central dispatch unit located in Newcastle upon Tyne.
* Ensuring proper housekeeping in the plant, including the cleaning of the site and equipment.
* Monitoring automated chemical analysis equipment and performing basic chemical analyses for the assurance of the quality of carbon dioxide.

Performance of Planned and Emergency Maintenance:

* Identification and correction of simple malfunctions of the CHP module, absorption chillers and carbon dioxide production unit.
* Performance of planned maintenance on the gas engines according to Manufactures recommendation maintenance schedule up to 10,000 operating hours. This typically includes inspections, maintenance on valve clearance, ignition, system, regulating rods, throttle valves, actuators, gas trains, oil filter inserts, crankcase vents, pre-chamber gas valves. Some of this maintenance will have to be performed independently while others will involve an additional specialist from the regional mobile maintenance crew.
* Performance of planned maintenance on the carbon dioxide production unit.
* Performance of similar inspections and planned maintenance activities on other equipment, such as absorption chillers, heat recovery steam generators, air compressors etc.

Communication with the Client’s Personnel:

* The position will involve frequent communication with the operating personnel of the client’s facility. Continuous Improvement:
* Throughout your work, you should feel encouraged to identify and initiate operational improvements and innovations that will contribute to the enhancement of plant safety and reliability, work productivity, cost reduction and quality of service to the client. The management will provide an organizational framework for capturing, implementing and rewarding such operational improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualification & Work Experience

* A diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
* A qualified Electrician with authorization to work power generation and electrical equipment up to and including 11 kv.
* Power plant experience is desirable.
* Mechanical engineering experience of working on Boilers, Air Compressors, Co2 generation and Chillers is desirable but training will be given to the successful applicants.
* Experience of pipe work repairs and pressure vessel inspection desirable.
* Factory experience would be advantageous.
* Self starter who can work as part of a team or on their own, capable of self managing (24 hour role site manager only on site in normal working hours).
* Capable of reporting information verbally and written.
* PC experience would be useful as the overall aim is to have a paper free maintenance system.
