Lutheran World Federation Jobs in Dadaab Refugee Camp Kenya

Lutheran World Federation / Department for World Service Kenya Programme is seeking to recruit Kenyan nationals for the following positions, to be based in Dadaab Refugee Camp.

1. IT Assistant
Ref. No. IT/01/11

Duties and responsibilities will include:

* Provision of first-level ICT Help Services, technical support services, troubleshooting and resolving end-users problems
* Servicing and Maintenance of ICT Equipment
* Maintain the ICT assets management database; update the database whenever ICT assets are received, issued or transferred from one location to another
* Assist in undertaking inventory
* Assist the ICT Support Specialist in servicing and maintaining IT equipment, and in deploying software applications to client computers
* Maintain and update system patches and antivirus
* Do periodical system and file backups.
* Data Entry
* Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Professional Qualification:

* A Higher national Diploma in computer science, IT, Electronics Engineering or telecommunications engineering.
* Alternative of a National diploma in IT with KNEC certification and fair knowledge of Lotus applications.
* Proven knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2003/ Microsoft exchange 2003 server in WAN environment

Relevant Experience:

* 3 years working experience in a busy ICT industry.
* Good knowledge of Internet technologies (TCP/IP protocol suite, as well as voice-over-IP, Internet routing and Internet security)
* Excellent knowledge of office automation software (Microsoft Office Suite)
* Knowledge of payroll processing system.
* Fairly good in structured cabling.

2. Assistant Accountant
Ref. No. AC/05/11

Duties and responsibilities will include:

* Imprest management to service providers and wages to LWF Staff.
* Efficient filling of all the accounts source documents &Ensuring proper coding of all the documents before pay.
* Maintaining the Bank and petty cash book on daily basis & Posting the daily transactions to the ACCPAC accounting software.
* Carry out any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Professional Qualification & Experience.

* At Least CPA 2
* Good computer skills in Ms Word and Ms Excel are a must and knowledge of ACCPAC added advantage.
* At least 3 years working experience.

3. Senior Cateress
Ref. No. Admin/03/11

Duties and responsibilities will include:

* Raise orders and ensure availability of sufficient quality food supplies for LWF Dadaab and the Camps.
* Issuing, monitoring and controlling the use food supplies both in Dadaab and the Camps.
* Oversee the allocation of staff housing rooms and maintain records of assets/equipment assigned to staff houses
* Oversee catering services for LWF staff and visitors and cleanliness of the kitchen, all offices, compound and staff rooms.
* Maintaining and updating departure and arrival notice board for LWF staff & visitors in collaboration with the Human Resource.

Professional Qualifications:

* Must posses a Diploma in food production, housekeeping and service area from a recognized institution.
* Must be good in Computer packages especially Word and Excel.

Relevant Experience:

* Experience in pastry, entrementier and saucier
* Must have five years experience in a busy hospitality industry
* Knowledge of store controls and record keeping & ability to compile reports on monthly basis.
* Ability to tolerate cultural, educational and religious diversity in the work place.

4. Camp Management Officer
Ref No: CM/04/11

The Camp Management Officer will report to the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Officer who is the Camp Management Sector Head

Duties and responsibilities:

Project Planning, Implementation and Management

* Overall responsibility for the successful planning, coordination, execution, monitoring, control, and evaluation of the project at Camp level.
* Direct and supervise the staff in project implementation & verifying reports & financial receipts before taking them to the Accountant
* Chairing and facilitation of project review meetings with the staff at the Camp level
* Ensure that implementation is done according to the budget and work plans
* Ensure effective and on time communication with partners, the UNHCR field unit, LWF senior staff, and the community

Coordination at Camp level

* He will chair interagency meetings, sectoral/monthly meetings and circulate the minutes to the UNHCR and other partners present.
* Support the Camp management Officer In organizing annual events like World Aids day, World refugee day, International day of peace among others, with the help of other implementing partners
* Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or designate.

Operations at Camp level

* Maintaining sound and cost-effective operational standards and procedures at the camp level.
* Ensure proper utilization of supplies, equipment and assets based at the camp level
* Conducting regular staff performance appraisal & ensuring all staff observe the highest standards of the Code of Conduct.
* Reporting to the DPC, PC & Nairobi office of any incidents of abuse of authority and discrimination in LWF operations.

Professional Qualifications:

* Graduate degree in Social work, community Development, Sociology or any other social sciences related field
* At least 4 years of progressive experience in humanitarian program management, preferably in refugee settings.
* Experience gained in management and community mobilization is an added advantage
* Professional experience working with international organizations/ NGO/ Project/program development and Management
* Strong representation, negotiation and coordination experience gained from working with UN organizations, NGOs and INGOs.
* Working knowledge and experience of SPHERE and UNHCR standards and field security protocols and procedures.
* Excellent computer skills in word processing, database management, spreadsheets, use of internet and email.
* Experience in conducting trainings, facilitation and capacity building & ability to work under pressure, tight deadlines & adverse climate
* General knowledge about the political, socio-economic and social situation in the regions.

Relevant Experience and skills

* Strong analytical, problem solving and quick response experiences in humanitarian contexts.
* Experience and skills in developing proposals, concept papers and reports writing.
* Experience working with refugees and/or local communities to promote community-based structures and institutions for self-management.
* Proven academic and/or on-job training on ‘Project Cycle Management”.

Personal Attributes:

* High level of integrity, commitment and professional responsibility.
* Ability to tolerate cultural, educational and religious diversity in the work place.
* Excellent communication, organization and presentation skills.
* Skills in data collection/analysis, donor report writing; verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili
* Able to work in a team with minimal supervision
* Being an accountability project, the person desired is one with high integrity

5. Camp Information Officer

Camp information Officer will report to the senior Information Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Planning, Implementation and Management

* Collect & analyzing data & disseminating the information to the community, implementing partners and the donor Agency
* Developing tools for data collection and analysis & identify gaps within and out of the project according to UNHCR standards.
* Prepare an information data bank at camp level and frequent update of the information database
* Represent the organization in relevant coordination meetings at camp level, prepare minutes and circulating to the relevant persons
* Preparation of internal project weekly, monthly , annual reports and other periodic reports and submit to the Camp Management Officer
* Prepare training manuals and conduct all trainings within the sector and prepare reports.

Coordination at Camp level

* Share information, give feed back and share gaps noticed at camp level in the coordination meetings
* He will support the Camp Field Officer to organize annual events like World Aids day, World refugee day, etc
* Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or designate.

Operations at Camp level

* Responsible in observing standards and procedures in transport, stores, procurement, communications and security at the camp level.
* Ensure proper utilization of supplies, equipment and assets based at the camp level
* Supervising and motivating camp-based refugee staff in accordance with LWF policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Conducting refugee staff performance appraisal and ensuring all LWF staff observe the highest standards of the Code of Conduct

Professional Qualifications:

* Graduate degree in Information management System, community Development, Sociology or Diploma in statistics.
* At least 4 years of progressive experience in humanitarian program management, preferably in refugee settings.
* Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and email.
* Must have experience in using SPSS software
* Skills in facilitation of partnerships to fulfil program objectives

Relevant Experience and skills

* Strong analytical, problem solving and quick response experiences in humanitarian contexts.
* Experience and skills in proposals and reports writing.
* Experience working with refugees and/or local communities to promote community-based structures and institutions for self-management.
* Proven academic and/or on-job training on ‘Project Cycle Management”.

* Ability to work under pressure, tight deadlines and adverse climate
