Vice Provost, East Africa

As AKU continues to significantly expand in East Africa, the University seeks a proven academic leader to act as the Provost’s representative and oversee the development, quality, and operation of AKU-East Africa’s evolving academic footprint.

Reporting to the Provost, you will be charged with formulating and implementing academic policy for AKU - East Africa in conjunction with the Deans and Directors of the respective Colleges and Institutes in East Africa.

In fulfilling the duties of this newly created role, you will provide leadership for all aspects of undergraduate and post-graduate academic programmes, including matters related to faculty, students and curriculum in accordance with policies and guidelines approved by the Board of Trustees.

You are a proven scholar and academic leader who is ready to be the voice of academic initiatives in East Africa.

Founding Dean, Arts and Sciences, East Africa

Based in Arusha, Tanzania, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, East Africa (FASEA) aims to become a global institution of academic excellence with regional relevance.

FAS-EA will enhance resilience in East Africa, specifically the capacities of local landscapes, communities, and institutions, to cope with the uncertainties and surprises of climate change, environmental degradation and globalization.

In doing so, FAS-EA will also focus on pluralism in its multiple forms. As the Founding Dean, you will have the unique opportunity to develop, launch and operate this world-class initiative.

As the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer for the Faculty, you will be the architect of the facilities, infrastructure, curricula, and human resources, all of which will be critical to the development of liberal arts education in East Africa.

Dean, Student Life, East Africa

As the inaugural Dean, Student Life in East Africa, you will build and shape a student service function focused on enhancing the overall quality of the student experience at AKU-East Africa to support the academic mission of the University.

Initially responsible for Nursing and Medical students in Nairobi, you will eventually assume responsibility for student life in the new Faculty of Arts and Sciences to be relocated to Arusha, Tanzania, in 2016. You are a builder and leader who has a passion for the student experience and who understands the East African context.
