African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) Job in Nairobi Kenya



Our client, the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is seeking suitable candidates for the position of Executive Director (ED) who reports to an international Governing Council. 

This position requires an energetic person with experience of research, policy analysis, advocacy and fund-raising. 

In addition, the ED is expected to provide overall scientific leadership of the Centre, set the direction of its research and dissemination programmes, develop and articulate strategies and operational plans, and managerial leadership.
 
ACTS is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) engaged in policy-oriented research analysis and advocacy leading to formulation and practice of sound policies that protect the environment, promote sustainable development, and contribute to better living standards for all in Africa.

The policy shaping work done by ACTS is specifically related to the field of agriculture and food security, biodiversity and natural resource management, energy and water security and capacity building under the Science, Technology Policy Institute (STPI) of the Centre.
 
The Centre’s annual operating budget of approximately US Dollar 2.5 Million is supported by grants from a broad range of international and institutional donors. 

The Director is expected to take a leading role in ensuring the steady flow of programme grants and collaborative research activities.

Applicants should preferably be in their mid-career, have a PhD degree in social or environmental sciences, and several years of work experience in responsible positions.
